“The book fair will continue till March 15,” said Dr Selim Reza, member secretary of the Amar Ekushey Book Fair 2026 management committee, on Wednesday (February 18).
The authorities also decided to fully waive the stall rent for publishing houses taking part in the fair.
Publishers who have not yet taken stall allocation for the 2026 fair have been asked to apply by 3:00pm on February 19. Based on the applications, stalls will be allotted at 6:00pm on the same day.
Earlier, Bangla Academy had announced that the fair would start on February 20. However, due to the holy month of Ramadan, a section of publishers demanded that the fair be held after Eid. They said it would be difficult for them to participate otherwise and sought the intervention of BNP Chairman and Prime Minister Tarique Rahman.
